About Lagnora — Serious Relationships for South Asians in Europe

1. What Lagnora is

Lagnora was created in the Netherlands for South Asians living across Europe who are looking for serious relationships and marriage. We are building a different approach: one where people make their own decisions, while family, culture and tradition can still have a place when they choose.

The product is organised around intent rather than volume: no swipe culture, no endless feed, and an experience built for considered conversations between people who are open about looking for a long-term relationship or marriage.

2. Who Lagnora is for

Lagnora is for South Asian adults in Europe: people who grew up here, who moved here to study or work, or whose families are spread across several countries. Members come from different backgrounds, languages, traditions and levels of religious practice, and our community guidelines are explicit that curiosity is welcome while ranking or belittling people for those differences is not.

It is equally for someone considering marriage for the first time and for someone beginning a new chapter after divorce or loss. Both are treated as normal, and neither is presented as the default.

3. The gap we are addressing

Casual dating apps are built for speed and volume, and rarely make room for family, culture or an honest conversation about marriage. Traditional matrimonial portals do make room for family, but often at the cost of the individual: the process is arranged around families rather than around the two people involved.

Lagnora is deliberately neither. The member decides who they speak to, what they share and how the process moves. Family can be invited into that process when the member wants perspective and support, without taking over the decision. That is the whole product idea, and every design and copy decision on this site is judged against it.

4. Individual choice, with room for family

Family involvement on Lagnora is opt-in and member-controlled. Through the Family Circle you can invite trusted family members, and they see only the specific items you grant them, for as long as you grant them. Your profile, your conversations and your decisions stay yours.

Some members involve family early, others prefer to keep the process private until much later, and both approaches are valid. Members are asked never to pressure anyone to involve family, share private family information, or move faster than they are comfortable with.

5. Built in Europe

Lagnora is built in the Netherlands, and European context is not an afterthought. Member data is stored in Microsoft Azure, region North Europe, with primary hosting in Frankfurt, Germany, and is not transferred outside the EU/EEA.

During the early-access phase, membership is limited to adults resident in the EU/EEA, the United Kingdom, Switzerland and Norway.

6. How we think about trust and verification

Identity and age verification is being introduced as part of the member onboarding process: eligible member access will require members to confirm their identity and age through an approved identity-verification provider. We keep the verification outcome and a minimal audit record rather than raw documents.

We are careful about what we claim for it. Identity verification helps reduce impersonation and misuse, but it cannot guarantee a member's intentions, behaviour or relationship status. Alongside verification there are profile checks, reporting tools, blocking, moderation and privacy controls, and members are asked to use ordinary judgement when meeting someone new. 7. How we think about privacy

We collect only what the service needs, and we say why at the moment we ask for it. Cultural and community details are voluntary, member-configured and never inferred by us. We do not sell or rent personal data, and there are no data brokers or advertisers in the picture.

Our privacy policy documents the GDPR legal bases we rely on: consent for marketing and voluntary cultural fields, contract for running your account, introductions, chat and credits, legal obligation for identity and age verification, and legitimate interest for preventing fraud and abuse. Analytics on this website run on Plausible, which is cookie-free and stores no personal data, and crash diagnostics through Firebase are anonymised and contain no profile content.

8. Where we are today

Lagnora is in early access. The member app is an invite-only beta on iOS and Android, opening first to the First 100 early-access members, who receive twelve months of Premium from public launch, launch credits once their profile is verified and activated, referral credits and launch rewards, and early sight of selected features.

Joining the waitlist is the way in: once your place has been reviewed, we send the appropriate beta invitation for your device. Anything not yet final will be confirmed before public launch rather than promised early.

9. Who operates Lagnora

Lagnora is operated by Sagous B.V., a private company registered in the Netherlands, KvK 99611759, Startbaan 6, 1185 XR Amstelveen. Sagous B.V. is the data controller for member and waitlist data.
